Swar Aalap has been established with the aim of bringing name and glory to the artistes who have worked behind the scenes in the Indian music industry. Countless instrumentalists, arrangers and assistants have toiled for some of the loveliest of  recorded songs that we continue to enjoy to-day.

Similarly, there are a number of lyricists, singers, music directors and accompanying artistes who have given excellent output but failed to receive the recognition which was due to them.

Swar Aalap is the brainchild of Dinesh Ghate who is also a musician by profession. His sincere concern for his fellow musicians both senior and contemporary is strongly reflected in his labour of love Swar Aalap. Since its inception in may 2002, Swar Aalap has published interviews of many eminent personalities from the music field. The growth in response would be  seen from the wide subscriber base comprising music lovers, musicians, singers, event organisers,  recording studios, music shops, etc.

Swar Aalap is committed to the cause of recognizing these contributors and restoring the share of credit which is rightfully theirs.

For the past few years, Swar Aalap has been awarding outstanding musicians with the Swar Aalap Lifetime Achievement Award and showcasing their work to the public. In addition, needy musicians have been supported from time to time.
