Saaz aur Awaaz – Bandish Vaz
“Words make you think. Music makes you feel. A song makes you feel a thought.” And this time, we have Bandish Vaz – a promising composer, a talented musician, and a soulful singer – being featured as Artist of the Month on our portal.
Been born and brought up in Ahmedabad and hailing from a musical background – his father being a musical composer who composed for many Gujarati films and has many music albums to his credit. His paternal uncle was also a part of the Bollywood music industry, so music was in his veins. He started very early when he was barely in Class 11th playing the guitar for his father’s shows.
Bandish debuted as a solo music composer with a Gujarati film – ‘Tension Thai Gayu’, where he got the stalwarts Shaan and Javed Ali to sing his compositions. This great beginning elated him greatly. “Music is the fastest motivator of the world” and Bandish considers Music his inspiration which motivated him to go ahead with his musical compositions.
“Things come to happen in a sudden way sometimes, most unexpectedly when you least expect them to happen” and such was the beginning of his singing career one and a half years back. It so happened that he sent his vocal recording to an established singer for reference’s sake but somehow, as destiny would have willed, it did not happen. The director heard his recording and liked it so much that decided to go ahead with it. The song received great accolades and instantly became a hit. There was no looking back for him from then.
Bandish considers his show with Times of Music as the turning point in his career. He credits his success to four great personalities – Amar Haldipur Ji (his friend, philosopher, and guide), Viju Shah Ji (his mentor), Shameer Tandon Ji (Music composer), and Kumar Taurani Ji. Tips are exclusively managing this talented performer.
Bandish very excitedly tells about a concert with his father Edwin Vaz (popularly known as Appu) dedicated to music maestro Shankar-Jaikishan wherein there were 100 musicians and he played the piano. His solo singles already recorded with Tips yet to be released, an upcoming film whose title track he has sung and will also feature him. His concert TIPS REWIND with SKODA (A tribute to Ghazal King Jagjit Singh) with stalwarts Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Hariharan, Talat Aziz, Babul Supriyo, and many others which is being aired on YouTube.
When talking of this exclusive artist – Bandish Vaz, TIPS quotes, “A voice so melodious that it never fails to touch your soul.” And here’s wishing this versatile singer, whose creativity is second to none, a remarkable musical journey ahead.
