Raam Laxman To Stay In Our Hearts Forever

Music composer Vijay Patil a.k.a Laxman of the duo Raam Laxman was a veteran. He was widely known for composing the music for films like Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Hum Saath Saath Hain, 100 days among others. 

Vijay Patil was introduced in the industry by Dada Kondke, he used to compose Marathi songs in the beginning for him and soon started in Hindi. He began his career as Laxman of the Raam Laxman duo as a music composer. His partner Surendra a.k.a Raam passed away in 1976. Soon after they signed for Agent Vinod. But Vijay continued to associate his name with his creations and music. To honor and compose music while remembering him in his memory. He hit the peak after collaborating with Rajshri Productions. He gave music for more than 200 films in Hindi, Marathi, and Bhojpuri.

Bollywood was once again jolted by the demise. Lata Mangeshkar, Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit among others tweeted to express their grief and condolences.

Ashok Jagtap: We lost one more talented music director. When my friend informed me about his sad demise, I was shocked. He took his last breath on Saturday at the age of 78. I remembered the wonderful time we spend with him.

It was the year 1994.The film was” Hum Aapke Hai Koun. “All songs were recorded at Bombay Lab, Dadar. Uttam Singh was his permanent arranger. We were booked for nearly one month. Especially background music lasted for many days, this created a special bond between musicians and him. All songs of the film were a hit. He received a film fare award for this film. Bal Subramaniyam was his favorite. His other film ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’ too was popular. His last film with Rajashree production was “Hum Saath Saath Hain”.

Very few people know that Raam and Laxman were two partners. Ram’s real name was Surendar but he died at an early age after signing their first time

Salman Khan“Agent Vinod” but Vijay decided to retain the name. Actually, this name was given to them by Marathi film producer and comedian Dada Kondke who gave them the first break in the film ‘Pandu Havaldar’. His all-other movies also were signed by Raam Laxman.

Madhav Pawar (Rhythm): Vijay Patil was a very dear friend of mine and Gem of a person at heart. We use to perform together in live shows and almost his all movies as composers. We had a very good & melodious rapport, I can only say that there are no goodbyes, where ever you will be, you will be in our heart.

 Shyamraj (Saxophone): He was a very nice human being; I was fortunate to play many Flute solos for him.

 Jadavji Gala (Violin): As far as my knowledge he never disturbs or interferes with any musicians while recording, we had a special bond and understanding with him always.

Jitu Thakur (Violin): Meri Bhagwaan se Prarthana hai Music Composer Ram Laxman Jee ki aatma ko shanti de. Maine as a Violinist Ram Laxman Jee ke saath kaafi filmo me Music play kiya hai jaise ‘Maine pyar kiya’, ‘Hum Aapke hain kaun’, and ‘Solo Violin In Hum saath saath hain’ etc.

 Girish Vishva (Rhythm): Raam Laxman Jee was my very first Music Composer where I started my career playing in films. My heartfelt condolence and may God grant his soul rest in peace.
