My Dad Manohari Singh
My Dad – A Maestro in his art, a friend to one and all, a passionate traveller and a doting father, Mr Manohari Singh mentored and influenced many budding and professional musicians in his lifetime.
An excellent Arranger with perfect pitch, he was a favourite of Salil Chowdhury, who was instrumental in introducing him to the Music Industry in Mumbai city in the 50’s. He never looked back since, only to grow to great heights till his last day on planet earth. He is revered world over for his incredible and memorable renditions of his Saxophone pieces which still mesmerises one and all.
He is well known in the Indian Music fraternity for his amazing work as arranger for SD Burman and RD Burman apart from working with the top Music Composers and Musicians of the yester years. Working for over 4 decades, he has set a high bench mark for many aspiring musicians to follow.
A very disciplined musician, he never missed his morning walks, he was a very loving father and had a flair for a well-balanced life. We had lavish house parties with his musician friends and families and he lived life King size. He was also a great cook. His Mutton recipe / dish features in Asha Bhosle’s restaurant menu in Dubai.
Till date I get phone calls in remembrance on his Birthday & on his Death Anniversary from all over the world – he still lives in the heart of his fans.
I miss him.

Manohari Da was a legendary musician. I am his biggest fan and I am sad to know that today’s generation has little knowledge about such great music personas. Swar Aalap is doing a commendable job by sharing the work and giving knowlegde to today’s generation in regards to our great musicians.
